SUMMARY:Richard Williams Memorial Lecture
DESCRIPTION:Date:          Wednesday\, 27 August 2025 \nTime:          5.30pm \nWhere:      Maroochy Surf Club \nSpeaker:   Robert Whiteford\nRobert Whiteford was admitted to the Bar in 1979 and spent the greater part of his distinguished career practising in succession law and equity. Following his retirement from advocacy in 2024\, he continues to contribute to the profession through his work as a mediator. \nIn this presentation\, Robert will explore two key topics: \n\nComments on Commission – a discussion of executors’ and trustees’ commission claims\, including practical and procedural considerations; and\nThe Tolerated Territory of Trusts – a reflection on whether trust deeds can validly extend trustee powers beyond those permitted under the Trusts Act\, even where the Act asserts its provisions operate despite contrary terms in the deed.\n\nWith his depth of experience and dry wit\, Robert brings thoughtful insight to these complex and often contentious areas of trust law. \n“Members: Please log in to receive your discounted ticket prices.
